The Grammys 2024 is a little different from the previous ones due to the following changes:
Category Changes
- Three new categories were added: Best Pop Dance Recording, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best African Music Performance.
- In the “Big Four” General Field categories (Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year), the number of candidates was once again whittled down from ten to eight.
- Best Música Mexicana Album (including Tejano) is the new title for Best Regional Mexican Music Album (including Tejano).
- Best Jazz Solo Performance is now the new title for Best Improvised Jazz Solo.
Eligibility for Artificial Intelligence
With artificial intelligence growing at a rapid pace, the Recording Academy announced on June 16, 2023, that “only human creators are eligible to be submitted for consideration for, nominated for, or win a Grammy Award.”
“A work is not qualified for any category if it is entirely human-authored.” The academy further said that contributions of merely AI-generated content are not eligible for an award and that works including AI-generated material are only eligible for an award if a human contributed to the work meaningfully during the creative process.
